This was supposed to be just a quick sketch because I wanted to learn how to defeat my nemesis, drawing teenage girls. Then perspective and line art became my enemy. I am beset on all sides.

Too tired to render it fully, so I wont. Sometimes I draw a thing and it isn't going anywhere, but then I go to sleep, then look at it again in the morning and then I know how to fix it pretty much immediately. SPIDER-PUNK PINS

You may have seen that Jake Panian, who worked on Across the Spider-Verse, posted some references for Spider-Punk's design — including closeups of his pins! (Shoutout to @frog-does-dumb-stuff for posting them on tumblr, btw.)

WELL, I have access to a button maker and wanted to make my own, so in the spirit of punk I am sharing my resources (read: HD printable file) with you all.

First off, I assessed the sizes by compiling all the buttons from the source into one pile and, yeah, just kinda eyeballing them based on my knowledge of button sizes.

Then I painstakingly traced the designs in a higher definition, improvising the bits that wrap around the sides and aren't visible from the front — just kinda extending the design. The file looks like this:

Don't save and print it, it's a preview. PRINTING DETAILS (IMPORTANT): These are sized for 25mm, 38mm, 45mm and 58mm buttons. The PDF is an A4 size. Make sure your printer settings are set to Actual Size, so the dimensions are preserved. I suspect this may help those outside of Europe get an accurate printing as well.

If you want to try this but don't have access to a button maker, I suggest checking with your local library. They may have one, or know where to get access to one.

I'll do it, but not 'cuz you told me to.

It's rare that I finish watching something and IMMEDIATELY have to do fanart. But Across the Spiderverse got me. I was absolutely blown away by how gorgeous the animation was, and felt especially inspired by Hobie.

It's equally rare that I try to be messy on purpose. But come on, you expect Spider-Punk to be drawn neatly? It is simply against the anarchist spirit to color within the lines. So of course I went wild. I used my regular paints, colored pencil, marker, and a few other bits & bobs. I made mistakes and didn't fix them. And I had. So. Much. Fun.

In case anyone was wondering, I took inspiration from a few old-school punk zines here, as well as Jake Panian's concept art.

(And yes, that is a trans flag patch on his vest. He's supporting Gwen.)

I think it's fun that Hobie is a Prowler variant.

A rough doodle that ended up in Clip Studio Paint. Didn't end up cleaning it up much, but I’m trying to loosen up my art, so it worked out.

I had planned to use the concept art of Hobie's guitar by Jake Panian (Instagram link: here ) only as a placeholder texture, but I ended up getting attached to how it looked, so I left it.

My head canon is he’s looking at Miguel. Narrative foils, yo. (i love miguel, but he deserves an instrument to the head fr. get ur shit together, man)
